On its own, ORMIT provides detailed reports at various stages
that help users with the analysis of the Forms & Reports based
application. These may be performed during the pre-migration
stage while performing simulated migration, as well as in
the post-migration stage between version upgrades.
Oracle Forms is one of its kind in development environments.
The upgrade to newer versions requires addressing obsolete
code and also addressing changes in business logic to a certain
degree to adapt to the newer syntax as required for the new
versions. Some good examples of this would include 4 RUN-PRODUCT,
Bubble-help, Scroll-bar, Mouse Navigation etc. even though
these may be optional in some cases.
The fact that results are directly dependant on the inputs
is understood. Addressing these optional enhancements at the
Forms application level makes it easier while making the leap
to the next levels in the future or even while migrating to
other technologies like Java-ADF.
Imex also provides users who have migrated their applications
with a utility ORMIT-QA that allows users to determine the
extent of migration still needs to be performed, obsolete
code that still needs to be handled or options that have been
left out.
ORMIT-QA is a very easy tool to use and can provide the user
with an analysis within a few minutes on the conformity of
the application to Oracle's Recommended Best Practices. This
utility is perfect for organizations looking to evaluate the
migration scope or for organizations that have been through
the migration already to determine the extent of conformity.
